This is the statement put out by Mr Marks. the president of FSN.

FSN World News is carried by hundreds of radio stations worldwide, including several with a watery connection (Radio Seagull, Big L and Laser Hot Hits) and a wide variety of global broadcasters with no connection to an offshore past.
We maintain 13 fully-staffed news bureaus around the world (more than Sky or ITN) , including full operations in London, Brussels and Moscow. Our newscasts are hosted from our London bureau by day, and from our Washington bureau by night.
Because our bulletins air on radio stations as far away from one another as Uganda, the Bahamas, New Zealand and Frinton, we do not aspire to produce a UK-oriented news bulletin. Rather, we produce a "world" news bulletin that is a slightly more peppy version of the news you'd hear on the BBC World Service. On the video side of our business, we work for some of the biggest names in the news industry and we've won an Emmy for our efforts…suggesting that we must, on occasion, be doing something right.
We offer stations FSN World News, because we sensed - correctly - that there are hundreds of stations out there looking for a top-of-the-hour news, but unable to pay the costs of Sky/IRN or AP Radio News. Some of them are run out of bedrooms, others by hospitals, colleges and community organizations. Our mission is to provide any radio station - large or small - with its global news content. But the coverage is global, and doesn't pretend to be anything else.

Finally, I'd simply point out that we've been supplying Big L with news since the station's inception. We enjoy a tremendous relationship with Big L and wish it…and all other broadcasters….continuing success in their endeavors. And we're always open to constructive criticism. With an emphasis on the word "constructive".

To be honest, I cant imagine that FSN heard it at the time. Also I cant inagine someone like Mr Simon Marks who is president of FSN would be close personal friends with someone like Roger Davis. The reason small internet only stations like BIG L use FSN is because Sky news is very expensive. FSN is very low cost or coukld be free.

No number 6 it was meant to be light hearted. I have not and will never say anything bad about chirpy. He is a great guy and even holidayed with us earlier in the year, bought gifts for our baby and has known Ellie since she was a baby her parents long before that.So no shame on me at all so get the facts before a presumptuous post.

Very carefully worded. He did put Saturday Shows on Listen Again AND Chirpy's Children's Favourites WAS on Listen Again on the first day that FOBL was down, following 'that' Chirpy show. The next day... nothing.

there have been no shows in the specials for a while, as well as chirpys programmes, my radio london anorac day is now gone as is Ellies t rex special and all the other programmes .Should anyone want to listen to a deleted episode, I will gladly put anyones shows up (including chirpy's) and provide a link.

Did one or more Chirpy shows disappear when FOBL was down after Chirpy was taken off air?
PLEASE..,. YES OR NO.

Its not the fact that Chirpy has gone that has annoyed me I rarely listen to either his show or Big L anyway its the way that he has been treated and the way the situation was handled so heavily by Roger Davis.

As I understand it he was cut off mid-show by Roger now that is NOT professional but dictatorship. If he wanted to drop Chirpy from the schedule because of something he said then the decent thing to do is to let the guy finish his show then phone him up/call him into Frinton and discuss with him what he has done wrong and see what he has to say. If all Chirpy said was a derogatary remark about the quality of FSN then to my mind its not such a major thing that warrants a sudden cut mid show.
If it had been done properly Chirpy would either still be on air following an apology or it could have been announced officially that he was leaving. None of the hatred would have ensued from any sections of the radio community.

Chirpy had a large following its not beyond reality that whether you liked his show or not he probably had the biggest ratings of any Big L show. The other presenters and Roger Davis can say what they like BUT this affair has undoubtably done a lot of damage to the station. The majority of this damage could have been avoided had a little bit more complacency & professionalism been shown.

I am sure I am not the only one who when looking at the revised schedule can see what Roger has now achieved and it makes me wonder if he was just waiting for Chirpy to fall out of line so he could pounce. It seems very odd to me how soon after Chirpy went that the replacement schedule was announced.

And as for FOBL being conveniently down at the time all this started I think that says it all.

I can confirm, there were shows in the Specials section. Mine and Chirpy's Aug 14th specials for two and Phil's Pirate special from the preceding Saturday was put into that category by myself, at Phils request a couple of evenings ago. All now gone. Very strange.

I thought it was the listen again page? Not the listen again and again and again and again page? How long does a programme stay on the bbc iplayer for? Long enough for those who missed it to have a chance to watch it then it gets taken down. This isn't a Sherlock Holmes novel... There's doesn't always have to be some sinister explanation. Lol

Coastie, with the greatest respect to Big L, but I dont think the head of FSN would listen to Big L.
FSN would have no knowledge of what was said by Chirpy.
