I thought BT's call centre was in India too? I make sure of a few important two things now, before I join an ISP- I check out their reviews here http://www.ispreview.co.uk/ (That site makes a very interesting read)
2. I check the package is big enough for the bandwidth I need. 3. I make sure support is in the UK. 4. I phone their support number BEFORE signing up, and see how long they take to respond. 5, I MAKE SURE THE CONTRACT TERM IS NO LONGER THAN 3 MONTHS MAXIMUM!!! There is NOTHING worse than being stuck with a bad ISP- and having to pay to get away from them! Lastly, I look at the price- my new one is cheaper than Talk Talk- and quite wonderful, even sorting out problems in a very efficient and caring way (these problems were down to BT Wholesale to be honest)
As for paying line rental, I do object paying for something that we once OWNED! (GPO) I can understand that routine maintenance costs money- but, the line charge should probably only be about 3 pound per household per month -to cover that, and upgrades. Rant over-promise! (oh those bad memories are coming back, noooooooooo.......)

I will confirm that the server for this forum is based in Germany as are my other sites, because I get good value for my money and great support. I did have 2 servers based in Holland but but since losing my sight I had to stop my satellite antics and hand the sites over to a profit based provider [I'll never get rich] Chris's cable servers are 100% UK based----firefox servers in Haifa are used for Middle east but have problems with lock outs from Syria and others. Col.
