Answers a lot of questions, for some. Even now, on some forums, there are those who think this is fiction, covering up the real, but unknown, truth. I've even heard it said that 648, from Orfordness, would be the new national emergency channel and that is part of the reason that Orfordness, and specifically 648, is being kept operational.

Page has now been removed, apparently at the request of Caroline management.

For someone who missed it- what was the main conclusion?

No6- I have read in online media that the Ross Revenge has a leak- and is danger of sinking?

I know its probably rubbish- but why do people persist in posting untrue info?

In addition to what #6 has already stated, I'm sure if the old girl really was in any danger of sinking, public tours would not have been allowed and last weekends RCN broadcast would not have gone ahead on the ship. As Donald is so fond of saying, fake news.

No idea what the reasons were. All I can say is there didn't seem anything very contentious in there. Sadly I no longer have a copy. I was keeping it open in a tab in my browser, but when my computer re-booted, the browser refreshed and the page was lost.

I believe that the reason it was taken down is that the site owners, at Orfordness, are paranoid about security and insist upon a high level of secrecy as part of the broadcast contract. Given the very mixed, classified nature of what the UK and US governments used to do hereabouts, it probably makes sense. Even if it doesn't, they are the site owners, they make the rules. I wouldn't want the excellent transmission site jeopardised by a few inquisitive anoraks.

Yes- I was listening today at about 5pm high on a moor in Derbyshire and the 1 kW signaL WAS TRULY EXCELLENT. For 1kW it just couldn't have been better! Congratulations to all the Caroline team.

Possibly a little more mainstream in the UK, but not much different to you tbh Alec. Yes, the government, authorities and BBC are doing all they can to promote DAB, but with limited success. Even the BBC have recently scrapped their plans to switch off FM and intend to continue simulcasting on FM & DAB for the forseeable future. The only difference is most DAB here is still DAB and not DAB+. Broadcasters don't want to migrate as there are so many older DAB radios in circulation that don't support DAB+.

What about 1368 kHz? I believe Manx Radio. Were considering closing it down a few years ago- before RCN came along? I suppose a permanent home for RCN could be argued- should they decide to do so.
