I must be braindead as well as blind and ancient------is there anyone on here who can translate Eric's latest escapade into laymans terms, commonly known as "An Idiot's Guide". My Dutch is pretty good but a lot gets lost in translation and you can't beat good old fashioned english when talking to a numbskull such as me Cheers. Col.

No Alec---I can translate very well but Eric's use of english is what we British call "double dutch" or "gobbledy glook". Can you understand all the text things he's attempting to do on KBC, if you can then please explain to me and others what it is, but please put it into simple words that can be understood before I pull more hair out. yes you're right - when eric posts something he is not very 'adressee - orientated' ...... Actually he wants to tell us that at X-mas there will be several overseas test-transmissions at different times from different Txes in Germany, Bulgaria and Romania - The programs from the German Tx (Wertachtal) are omnidirectional whilst the transmissions from the Balkan will be directional to the US and to Asia + Oceania. The 6095 (Wertachtal) will be 'business as usual' In his last 'overseas-transmission' he was also trying to transmit pictures the digital way via Shortwave to Southern America He was trying to tell us what we , the users have to do to receive these piccies - and what software it takes to make these SW-piccies visible. Ie. to use e.g. a remote ham receiver > download and save the audible digital signal > make it run through the converter (you have to download the tool first) > then make it visible. When I tolöd him that i-net would be the much easier way to transfer pictures he told me that digitalized SW can also be a medium to transfer pictures and video-infos in case that i-net gets blocked due to political reasons.

I guess it should work like a telefax then - and you have to record the digital noises from your radio onto a tape or minidisc and then to convert them from there on your pc into a picture - as you won't have access to a remote-ham anymore either.... hm ... perhapes you only have to use the handset of your telefax and hold it against the speaker of your SW-receiver and press 'start' - maybe that would be the easier way ...
