hmm .... , being moored near to a marina place and in case R.Caroline will get an AM license to broadcast from the Ross - won't all these yacht-owners and the 'greens' soon start to complain about electronic interferences as they did about BigL when broadcasting from Trintelhaven ? -

I was just thinking that.

However, if Caroline do get a licence to broadcast I think it'll be from an already established TX site and not from the ship, although programmes might originate from the Ross.

The GPS Avenger is now just off Brightlingsea.

Caroline was moored in almost same area 20 years ago and made 2 RSL broadcasts from the ship without complaint.
There were also tender trips to the Ross and I can remember getting rather bleary eyed at the bar of the St Lawrence Bay sailing club.
Also during one RSL I think 1994 the ship did a link up to our then local Southend radio station --Breeze AM [now gone]

I don't think they would have any trouble from the Greens if they started broadcasting an RSL or a permanent FM licence for several reasons . Caroline is still remembered in peoples memories with much fondness in Essex also people in Britain are not so Green as in other countries so I don't think they would run into any trouble.

Just a quick note--some people are hinting at a broadcast soon from the Ross or wherever the Tx is. There is no RSL in the listings so far but a hook up from ship to shore Tx may be in the offing.

As to the water in the river, it's probably Brackish.

Good to see she has lights on, that usually means that there is a generator running aboard (not just batteries) so it's good to see that she's not a "Dead Ship".

Unfortunately, I can't find a chart which covers that area so that I can look at and find out what depth there is, what the nature of the seabed is etc.

This was just a mish mash write up from my local paper. The writer, veteran reporter Tom King, has made some glaring errors within the report but really it's a good bit of publicity for Caroline and keeps the station within the public eye. At present the ship is just bobbing up and down in the River Blackwater doing nothing except looking pretty---will it broadcast again---no answer to that question but it's starting to become obvious that the "format" will have to change if peoples interest is to continue.
