Some sad news from Stew1 on GS board: As many on here will remember Chirpy from Big L 1395. He left Big L and joined Sunshine Gold where he introduced listener participation which I found at times to be a bit of fun. Chirpy later found a new interest in life which he has carried on with daily ever since.Chirpys shows were then played on Jimbos Radio England International but sadly due to ill health jimbos Station is going to be closing down at 1.00am Sunday night Monday Morning where the station will be playing Chirpys Final hour on Sunshine Gold. Chirpy has suggested to me it may run til 1.00am as his last show ran for five hours Just thought this was more interesting than speculating frequencies and aerial masts for Caroline
Jimbo has run this station for many years and always managed to serve up an interesting selection of programming. I was aware of his health problems and the liklihood of closure, although it's come sooner than expected.
Would just like to say thanks to Jimbo for providing the station and I'm sure I speak for everyone on here when I wish him well for the future.

Well said, Cookie. I always had Chirpy's show, at work, before I retired and then some of the Radio England International re-runs. Whether you like Chirpy's shows or not, there isn't anything like it, on UK radio, currently.

indeed its sad news and I wish Jimbo all my very best - its always sad news when a station closes down But for Chirpy there are so many stations that would love to have him for instance M.A.R. or 2NG and also Gerry's stations (see GS board) I think I really don't understand why he ever stopped making shows because when eric hired him for BigL 1395 his old dream came true and he gained a loyal listenership

Chirpy put so much time and effort into his shows and we are all getting older. He also has another big interest in his life and something had to go. A waste of a great talent, in my opinion. He could have made the grade on mainstream radio but he is such an unassuming person that he made his decision and quietly got on with his life.
